Kenya, the more it changes, the more it remains the same

ree

As Kenya approaches 50, it was necessary to make a major reinterpretation particularly of the history of the process that led to independence in 1963. The book explains how British colonialism cultivated a new native elite in a carefully crafted policy of mission and school maleducation. It delves into the history of the anti-colonial struggle and identifies the Mau Mau movement as the  genuine independence movement in the country. It analyses the political process that led to independence and explains the dubious role played by Jomo Kenyatta that crowned him as the first president of Kenya.

It depicts the Mau Mau movement as one of the few genuinely anti-colonial movements in the continent and draws evidence from ex-Mau Mau fighters..
